The Problem and Inspiration
Julia was only fifteen when she came up with the idea to give everyone the power to become an author. She had spent several years traveling with her family across Europe and Asia. During her travels, she noticed teenagers everywhere doing the same thing: staring at their phones. No matter the city, language, or culture, social media seemed to consume their attention. Julia felt that real teenage interaction had substantially reduced. She remembered seeing groups of friends sitting together without actually talking. Conversations were replaced by scrolling, liking, and posting. Julia wondered what happened to stories, imagination, and curiosity. She realized her generation wasn’t lacking intelligence, but inspiration. They needed something meaningful to engage with.
